The island of Krk is the largest island in Croatia, at the very end of the island Krk is the Baška valey, which includes four villages: Draga Bašćanska, Batomalj, Jurandvor and Baška. Jurandvor is a small and quiet village near the sea. Ideal for people who like peace and quiet in the middle of the busy summer season. Best known as the place where the Baška tablet was found – the most valuable cultural monument of the Croatian language. The Baška tablet was found in the Church of St. Lucia, one of the oldest old Croatian churches built in the 11th century. The script used to carve the Baška tablet is Glagolitic, which is also one of the oldest Slavic scripts.

The village was mentioned for the first time in the 16th century, but the very beginnings of Jurandvor date back much earlier. In the past, the population was mainly engaged in agriculture, livestock, olive growing and winery. The complex of the Church of St. Lucija includes a archaeological park, a Benedictine monastery and the Glagolitic trail. Glagolitic trail It is a path with 35 stone sculptures carved with Glagolitic letters. In the complex of the Church of Saint Lucia, you can also find guided tours that include a tour of the church and the Benedictine monastery and a 30-minute film about the history of Jurandvor and Baška tablet.
