Prvić island

The largest uninhabited island in Croatia

The island of Prvić not only represents a striking part of the beautiful landscape of Baška, but it also has numerous special features. It is also protected as a special botanical and ornithological reserve and numerous endangered and rare bird species nest on its shores, such as the griffon vulture and the bald eagle, and it is also home to numerous endemic plant species. The island is the largest uninhabited island in Croatia. Nowadays it is mainly visited by beekeepers and shepherds from Baška who come to their flocks by boat. It can be recognized by the Stražica lighthouse, whose crew were the island’s only residents, but since the installation of the automatic lighthouse in 1974, Prvić has become the largest uninhabited island in Croatia
